Major renovation project starts at HEKA's Malmi site
In Malmi, Helsinki, one of the largest renovation projects currently underway in Finland will begin when Helsinki City Housing HEKA starts a major renovation of Vilppulantie 26, with the aim of improving both living comfort and energy efficiency.
The project will renovate several apartment buildings built in the 1980s, renovating apartments, staircases and facades. A total of around 12 000 m² of brick façade surface will be covered with the BRIX system, which allows for a durable, quick-to-install and truly ventilated façade solution.
The renovation is scheduled to be fully completed in summer 2027, with the first delivery of the BRIX system scheduled for week 3 early next year.All facade deliveries will be completed within a year, reflecting the project’s rapid schedule and rigorous project management.
A prefabricated solution for easy implementation also in wintertime
The facades of the Vilppulantie project will be built with the prefabricated BRIX system, which enables fast deliveries and an efficient site phase. In addition, the prefabrication allows installation in winter without the need for separate drying and heating phases, which makes the work more predictable and more consistent regardless of the season.
The Vilppulantie project also highlights the importance of sustainability and the circular economy in construction. BRIX is committed to recycling all packaging boxes – they are collected from the site and reused, reducing the environmental load of the project and supporting the principles of sustainable construction.

During the design phase, we have worked closely with the designers to define the brick, mouldings and details.
